But as with any big updates the myths are jostling for space with the facts. It will affect the reimbursement of all eligible clinicians. The eligible clinicians who will have to report under MIPS are physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, certified registered nurses and anesthetists.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1648 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/www.medicalbillingstar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/myth3-150x150.png\" alt=\"MIPS and AAPM\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.medicalbillingstar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/myth3-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.medicalbillingstar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/myth3-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/www.medicalbillingstar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/myth3.png 405w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Myth #3: <\/strong><\/span>Clinicians can choose between MIPS and \u00a0participating in AAPMs right at the outset.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><strong>Fact #3:<\/strong><\/span> All eligible clinicians will report under MIPS during the first year. CMS will select qualifying physicians to participate in AAPMs after evaluating their quality scores.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1649 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.medicalbillingstar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/myth4.png\" alt=\"MIPS Penalties\" width=\"256\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.medicalbillingstar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/myth4.png 300w, https:\/\/www.medicalbillingstar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/myth4-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 256px) 100vw, 256px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Myth #4: <\/strong><\/span>MIPS penalties are higher than the current quality measure programs<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><strong>Fact #4:<\/strong><\/span> MIPS stream lines and consolidates 4 different programs under one umbrella. Instead of paying separate and sometimes expensive penalties for failing to meet different pay for performance programs, clinicians who report under MIPS will only have to pay a 4% penalty during the first year.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Myth #5: <\/strong><\/span>MACRA will penalize physicians who follow the fee for service model<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><strong>Fact #5:<\/strong><\/span> It does not.
